After doing several of these challenges with Dean Graziosi and Tony Robbins I strongly believe everyone should do it. I mean it's a free 5-day online event with some of the most inspiring people on the planet.

Now, I know we all have things to do but you have to realize that how we spend out time can be divided into two categories:

1. Things we do to benefit us

A lot of people have these two backwards. Thinking that binging shows, watching countless TikTok videos somehow benefits them.

Now, don't get me wrong. I know that everyone, including people like Tony, Dean and myself, need some unwinding time. However, do you really believe spending several hours scrolling through social media benefit you?

I know from personal experience that after wasting hours on mindless stuff online leaves me in the worse spot than I was before. Feeling like wasting time without being fulfilled.

These companies know how to peak out interests and hook us to watch just one more episode, one more short video or one more response to a post. There is a reason why these companies are some of the wealthiest and most powerful in the world.

The same thing can be said about working for someone just for a paycheck. Sure, it makes you a living but if you're passionate or fulfilled with what you do, how does it benefit you? On the other hand you probably make 10x more money for your boss.

On the other hand things that gives us knowledge, help us solve problems, gives us a reason to get up in the morning are the true things that benefit us.

For example, you thing helping other doesn't benefit you?

It's the opposite as there is nothing more beneficial than helping others while making 10 times what you normally would. Just imagine sharing what you already know with people that need it, and becoming financially free in the the process?

Does Anyone Owe You Anything?

You see, I recently realized that in today's world, especially online, everyone feels like they are owed something. We're constantly getting bombarded by ads, sale pitches, and free gifts. It's like a shouting marketplace out there where everyone wants to lure you in with a special offer.

Which makes us feel special but it also has a dark side to it. The belief that the world, or anyone in it, owes us something is damaging in the long term. If you're always expecting to get something for free or that everyone will jump at your every command there is no place for growth.

I mean, how can you grow as a person when you expect everything to be handed to you on a silver platter? Worse yet, if you do get it, you don't appreciate it because you see no value in it.

I don't even have to tell you this you probably know people like that already. The ones that cry and moan like little kids when it doesn't go their way and when it does they feel like they deserved it all along.

While reading posts and pages about the Own Your Future Challenge I noticed the same reoccurring theme. It seems like some of the people writing about it want you to sign up more than you want it yourself.

You see, regardless of what's going on in our lives the time doesn't stop, or the earth doesn't stop moving because something is not going as we planned.

I mean sure, it might feel like everything has stopped for us but if you just look outside you'll see life goes on. The sun is shining, the birds are singing and busy people are making their way through the street.

One day you'll have to leave your layer once again and meet the world as a changed person. Now at this point, you still have a choice, a far less conscious, about how it will change you. You learn from it and become a better person or make yourself bitter.

On the other hand, businesses often don't have such choices. If you don't change quickly enough maybe will be changed for the worse. This is true even without the pandemic and especially in the tech world where things move at a blazing speed.

The times are changing, and like Marc Levy says, “if you don't change with the times, the times are going to change you.” That's often the difference between a company that is successful for a year vs 10 years.

Luckily you don't need to be ahead of the curve all the time or make drastic changes to the business to make it. A great example of this is an NYC restaurant that started to give out a roll of toilet paper once rules did not permit indoor dining and they had to do deliveries only.

Their orders skyrocketed and all thanks to an additional value-added to it costing them about 25 cents. There are several lessons in this one but the most important ones are that you have to change/adapt to a situation no matter how big or small, and you can add tremendous value without adding huge costs.

Now, to make it clear the restaurant didn't go out and buy out all the toiler paper to do this. No, because indoor dining was not allowed they had tons of paper left with no use.
